Two, four and
nineteen 19 channel instantaneous Z Score EEG biofeedback
is available for
distribution to qualified developers. A simple to use "Dynamic Link
Library" or dll based on the statistics of NeuroGuide can be implemented in
a few hours using only four call functions. Stream the time series
of A-to-D raw EEG values to the dll and the dll returns two hundred and forty
eight Z scores in one
microsecond for each time sample. The dll provides real-time normative database comparisons for absolute power, power ratios,
relative power, coherence, phase delays and amplitude differences.
There are many potential uses of real-time EEG statistical analyses such as:
1- EEG Biofeedback
2- ICU monitoring of the EEG
for immediate feedback
3- Battle field assessments
of the EEG
4- Active task evaluations
using instantaneous EEG analyses
5- Anesthesia monitoring
using statistical evaluation of the EEG

An example of a potential
use of instantaneous statistical analyses of the EEG is in EEG Biofeedback where
the moment to moment comparison to a reference normal group of subjects is
computed in real-time. The idea is to use Z scores as a
threshold and to reinforce Z = 0, or Z = + or - 1, or a range of Z scores depending
on the judgment of the qualified biofeedback specialist. The
use of Z scores for biofeedback reduces the complexity of biofeedback of
voltages and ratios and coherence, etc. to a single metric, the metric of a Z
score (i.e., Z = (mean-subject)/st. dev). No longer wonder if coherence
should increase or decrease or phase delay should shorten or lengthen or
absolute power should increase or decrease for a given scalp location or a given
age.

environments to implement the Z score program dynamic link library for purposes
of biofeedback. Please contact the individual companies to read
documentation about exactly how they implemented the program and exactly how it
works inside of their individual and well tested biofeedback environments.
A permanent 1st license and a renewable 2nd license will be issued only with the
1st purchase of the Z score dll by the same single user. A renewable
2nd license will not be issued for additional purchases of the Z score dll by
the same single user.
